Stone DrakePetroterus therium
Miscellaneous
The largest predator in the Kotakaii region, but not the most threatening. Bipedal wyvern like reptiles with flexible clawed hands at the end of large leathery wings, these 8 foot hunters live very antisocial lives, even eating the young of other drakes when they can. Stone Drakes, despite the name are magically tune with the fire element and use that to warm themselves on rocky cliffs across the mountains during even in the worst winter storms.
Dull grey or nearly black in color with no markings, they have rocky skin, compact facial features and short legs with large claws. Dense scaled padding adds protection to their face, chest and underbelly, which are all points they attack when fighting each other. The older the Drake the more old scarring is visible on these areas.
Stone drakes prefer easy prey, and hunt yaks and other hoofed mammals in the area and rarely come in contact with humans. They are known for a loud shrieking cry used to ward off other drakes in their large ranges, that can be heard over a 2 mile range.
